Malverne High School Launches Leaders of Tomorrow Guest Speaker Series with Legislator Carrié Solage

Malverne High School recently launched its Leaders of Tomorrow Guest Speaker Series, welcoming Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages as the program’s inaugural speaker. Addressing members of the Leaders of Tomorrow program and AP Government students, Solages shared his personal journey and offered insights on leadership, education and civic engagement.
During the presentation, Solages reflected on his experiences attending local schools, earning a law degree and building a career as a prosecutor before entering public service. He encouraged students to remain focused on their goals, highlighting the importance of perseverance, discipline and a strong sense of purpose.
A key message of the discussion centered on surrounding oneself with positive influences. Solages advised students to cultivate their own personal “board of directors,” a trusted group of mentors, family members, educators and peers who can provide guidance, encouragement and accountability throughout life.
He also underscored the value of strong literacy and math skills, describing them as essential tools for success regardless of career path. Solages encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning and remain open to opportunities that support both personal and professional growth.
The visit provided students with a firsthand look at how education, determination and service can create pathways to meaningful leadership opportunities. Through thoughtful conversation and personal anecdotes, Solages challenged students to recognize their ability to make a positive impact in their schools, communities and beyond.
The Leaders of Tomorrow Guest Speaker Series will continue throughout the school year, offering students opportunities to learn from accomplished leaders in government, education and community service. Future speakers include educator and community advocate Doris Hicks and Malverne Mayor Tim Sullivan, who will share their experiences and perspectives with students.
The district thanks Legislator Solages for helping launch the series and for inspiring students to lead with confidence, embrace lifelong learning and pursue their goals with purpose. Through meaningful conversations with community leaders, the program aims to empower students to become informed, engaged and impactful members of their communities.
