Malverne Students Selected for 2026 NYSSMA All-State Music Festival

Malverne High School is proud to announce that four outstanding student musicians have been recognized by the New York State School Music Association for their exceptional musical achievements.
Jalen Blue (Bass) and Natalie Severe (Alto) have been selected to perform in the prestigious 2026 NYSSMA All-State Chorus, while Zhayden Tomlinson (Bass) and Jacob Sandoval (Bass) were named All-State Alternates. The students will represent Malverne High School at the 2026 NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference, taking place Dec. 3-6 in Rochester.
This year's four honorees represent the largest number of Malverne students to receive All-State recognition in more than 20 years. Their selection reflects their talent, confidence and commitment to musical excellence. Each student earned a perfect score of 100 on a NYSSMA Level VI solo evaluation last spring, an accomplishment that helped secure their All-State recognition.
The NYSSMA All-State Festival is considered one of the highest honors available to student musicians in New York State. Students are recommended by their music teachers and must perform a challenging Level VI All-State solo before a certified adjudicator. Selection is based on superior evaluation scores and demonstrated musical achievement.
The District congratulates Jalen, Natalie, Zhayden and Jacob on this extraordinary achievement and for continuing to represent the district with pride, excellence and dedication to the performing arts.
