Building Future Business Leaders Through Virtual Enterprise

What Is Virtual Enterprise?
Virtual Enterprise is an innovative, student-centered business program that allows students to experience what it’s like to run a real company—while still in school.
How the Program Works
Students create and manage every aspect of a business from start to finish. Working in professional teams, students take on roles in:
- Human Resources
- Accounting & Finance
- Marketing & Sales
- Product Development & Production
- Distribution
- Web Design, IT & Social Media
This hands-on approach helps students understand how all areas of a business work together.
Competitions & Trade Shows
Throughout the year, VE students compete in over 20 regional, national and global competitions, culminating in a Business Plan Competition judged by industry experts. Students also participate in virtual and in-person trade shows, collaborating and competing with student-run firms from across the region.
Real-World Experiences
The program includes 2-3 field trips, where students promote their business plans and attend trade shows on Long Island and in New York City, giving them valuable exposure to real-world business environments and professional networking opportunities.
College Credit Opportunity
Students enrolled in Virtual Enterprise have the opportunity to earn dual enrollment college credit through Farmingdale State College, totaling 6 college credits (3 credits per semester), at no cost to families.
Preparing Students for the Future
Virtual Enterprise bridges classroom learning with workplace experience, helping students develop essential leadership, collaboration, communication and critical-thinking skills. The program prepares students for college, careers and entrepreneurship by building confidence, responsibility and real-world business knowledge.
